England lead the three-match ODI series **1-0** after beating Sri Lanka by 89 runs at Chester-le-Street on 22 September 2026.
England were dismissed for 265 in 48.1 overs, with captain Harry Brook top-scoring with 67. Sri Lanka were then bowled out for 176 in 37 overs. Will Jacks made an unbeaten 46 and took 5 for 22.
The result gives England the early advantage in a short series: one more win would secure the series. Sri Lanka need to win at Headingley to keep the contest alive.
England won by 89 runs.
