Rules for Tax year 2026–27 (FY 2026–27). Last verified: 21 Sept 2026. Source: Income-tax Act, 2025, section 202 (new regime) and Finance Bill 2026 Memorandum (no change in s.202 rates for tax year 2026–27); standard deduction carried from CBDT ITR-1 validation rules AY 2026–27.

How this is calculated

In-hand = monthly gross − employee PF − professional tax − other deductions you enter − estimated monthly income tax. Tax uses the shared Income Tax calculator for Tax year 2026–27 (FY 2026–27), new regime, with the salaried standard deduction.

  • Employee PF is estimated at 12% of assumed basic (50% of monthly gross). This is an assumption, not a statutory structure.

Estimated in-hand salary based on the inputs and tax year selected. Actual payroll, PF wage ceilings, professional tax, and tax liability vary by employer and state.

Worked examples

  • ₹80,000 monthly gross, PF on assumed 50% basic, new-regime tax

    • CTC ≠ gross ≠ in-hand. Employers split pay differently.

Useful for

  • Monthly gross → estimated in-hand
  • Annual CTC → estimated in-hand

Questions

Why doesn’t CTC map to one in-hand figure?

Employers split CTC differently (basic, HRA, PF wage, gratuity, bonuses). Professional tax also varies by state. Janooji estimates using the components you enter and the selected tax year.

Does every company use this structure?

No. Basic, HRA, PF wage and professional tax vary. Enter what you know in Detailed mode.
