BGMI lag and frame drops: the fixes BGMI's own Help Center lists
Published 22 October 2026
Lag and frame drops are different problems
Players say "lag" for two things. Lag or a lost connection is a network problem: your phone is slow to reach the game server. Frame drops are a phone problem: the picture is not drawn fast enough even though the connection is fine. BGMI's Help Center treats them in separate articles, and the fixes differ.
If the connection lags or drops
BGMI's Help Center lists these steps for lag, in this order:
1. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
2. Change your connection (4G or Wi-Fi) or move to a place with a better signal.
3. Exit the game, clear some storage on the device and log in again. Before you log out, note that a guest player can lose character progress by logging out.
4. Tap the Repair button on the right side of the login page.
5. Download and install the game again.
If the game says the server is not responding, the Help Center says this usually happens when the connection is unstable or the signal is too weak. It suggests switching between cellular and Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi preferably) or avoiding areas with heavy network traffic, closing all other apps in the background and restarting the game, and restarting the phone and the connection. It also says that a ping of around 360 to 369 ms turns into a "server not responding" problem. Ping is the time, in milliseconds, that a message takes to reach the server and come back; lower is better.
If the picture stutters
The Help Center's frame-drop article gives five pieces of advice:
- Charge the phone: a low battery lowers the frame rate.
- Avoid playing when the phone is overheating, because the phone's temperature control then lowers the frame rate. The Help Center also advises against playing while the phone is charging.
- Avoid running too many apps at the same time; close all background processes and restart the phone.
- Set graphics to suit your device: settings above what the hardware can handle cause lag.
- Watch the signal indicator in the bottom left during a match or server selection. Yellow or red means your ping is high: switch to Wi-Fi or 4G, or set graphics back to the defaults.
About "lag fix" files, GFX tools and APKs
Searches for BGMI lag are full of config files, GFX tools and APK downloads. None of the steps above use them. BGMI's Help Center lists changing client file data, using unauthorized third-party programs to do it, and playing on an unofficial client among the reasons for a ban, and KRAFTON's 2026 anti-cheat reports describe suspensions for unauthorized game-file modification. Read the separate article on this before you consider any such tool.
How old is this advice?
The Help Center pages we used show "Last Updated" about three years ago (the lag, server and frame-drop articles), and BGMI has been updated many times since, most recently with version 4.6.0 on 16 September 2026. The steps are generic and still reasonable, but if the game's own in-app messages say something different, follow the game.
Still lagging?
If the steps do not help, contact BGMI support and say what you tried. Note whether the problem happens on one network only, whether the phone gets hot and how much storage is free: those answers separate a network problem from a phone problem.

Questions people also ask
Why does BGMI lag even when my internet is fast?
Lag and frame drops are different. A fast connection can still drop frames if the phone has a low battery, is hot, runs many apps or uses graphics settings above what it can handle, which are the causes BGMI's Help Center lists for frame drops.
What should I try first when BGMI lags?
Check that the connection is stable and switch between 4G and Wi-Fi or move to a better signal. If that does not help, free some storage and log in again, tap Repair on the login page and reinstall the game last.
What ping is too high for BGMI?
BGMI's Help Center says a ping of around 360 to 369 ms turns into a 'server not responding' problem. In a match, a yellow or red signal in the bottom left means your ping is high.
Is a BGMI lag fix config file or GFX tool safe?
BGMI's official pages do not recommend any. The Help Center lists illegally changing client file data and using unauthorized third-party programs to do it as ban reasons, so avoid them on an account you want to keep.
BGMI lag kaise theek karein?
Pehle internet stable karein aur 4G aur Wi-Fi ke beech badal kar dekhein, phir storage khali karke dobara login karein, login page par Repair dabayein, aur sabse aakhir mein game dobara install karein. Guest account se logout karne par progress mit sakta hai.
