Why isn't a fast bowler playing today?

Janooji does not have a live XI for today's match. When a first-choice fast bowler is left out, it is usually workload management, a niggle, a format rest, or a straight selection call. The only authoritative sources are BCCI, the franchise, or the match toss card.

    India bank holidays

All-India bank holidays that do not move are 26 January (Republic Day), 15 August (Independence Day), and 2 October (Gandhi Jayanti). Most other bank holidays — including Diwali, regional festivals, and state foundation days — are notified by RBI / state bankers' associations and differ by state. Janooji will not invent a 2026 city-wise list.

How petrol and diesel prices work in India

There is no one petrol price for India. Oil companies revise city retail prices, typically daily, based on international oil, the rupee, central excise, and state VAT. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and a district town can all differ on the same morning.

Why is the iPhone priced differently in India?

An iPhone's India MRP is not the US dollar price multiplied by the rupee. Import duty, GST, warranty/localisation, and the retailer's cut all sit on top. India-assembled models can narrow the gap, but they still do not match a US sticker price.

How to read an India weather forecast

For warnings — heat, cyclone, heavy rain — use the India Meteorological Department, not a screenshot from a phone widget. City apps often show a different station or model than the observatory IMD used for the warning.

How is gold price quoted in India?

The number on a jewellery board is usually a 22K retail rate per 10 grams for that city, not the London spot price. Your bill then adds making charges and GST. 24K is purer and priced higher; coin and biscuit rates differ from jewellery rates.

How does net run rate work?

Net run rate (NRR) is a tournament calculation: (runs scored ÷ overs faced) minus (runs conceded ÷ overs bowled), across the whole event. A team that wins big, or loses while batting long, usually moves NRR more than a tight one-wicket win.

    What is the DLS method?

DLS (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern) resets a chasing team's target after rain or an interruption. It uses 'resources' — overs left and wickets in hand — not a flat run-rate calculation. The par score on the screen is the DLS number at that moment.

    Gold price today

Janooji does not currently publish a live gold rate. Today's jewellery board price depends on your city, 22K vs 24K, and the jeweller. We will not put a made-up rupee figure on this page. Use this as the placeholder for the live rate, with source and IST timestamp, once the feed is live.

    What is the UPI limit?

There is no single UPI limit for every payment. NPCI publishes product ceilings (including a common ₹1 lakh cap on many person-to-person transfers), and your bank can set a lower daily or per-transaction limit. Check the limit screen inside your UPI app or net banking — that is the number that actually applies to you.

  11. explainerMoney21 September 2026

    What is UPI?

UPI (Unified Payments Interface) lets you send and receive money between bank accounts in real time using a UPI ID, QR code, or account+IFSC, through apps such as GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, and BHIM. NPCI operates the rail; your bank holds the money.

  12. explainerMoney21 September 2026

    What is GST?

GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a single indirect tax that replaced many older levies. A listed price may already include GST (inclusive) or show it extra (exclusive). The rate depends on the item's HSN or SAC code — 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28% are the slabs people meet most often.

  13. explainerMarkets21 September 2026

    What is the Nifty 50?

The Nifty 50 is a market-capitalisation-weighted index of 50 large companies listed on the NSE. You cannot buy the index itself; you buy a fund or ETF that tracks it. A 'Nifty is up' headline is about that basket, not about your one stock.

    What is EPFO?

EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation) administers EPF and pension for eligible salaried workers. Your UAN is the account number that follows you across jobs. Contributions are split between employee and employer; withdrawal rules depend on why you are taking the money out.
